The barmaid, proudly wearing her John Barras Pub Co. polo shirt, was mildly interested in our visit until told we were called Mengo Drinking. The talk was about the part your anus played in the discovery of Neptune. The best beer was Youngs. | ||

| What has happened here? Only one beer and despite assurance the Bass was freshly on it did not clear. The beer was declined and we left. As we did TM overheard the parting comment – ‘must be some of them real ale drinkers, ****ing ****ers’. Turns out the landlord, who used to keep a few decent beers, left last year. O well another one off the list. | ||

| Refurbished with sofas and arm chairs but still retains the atmosphere of a humble local. In addition to the guest beer on hand-pump you could also try the Bombardier dispensed from a wondrous piece bar furniture. The female football on the telly elicited a very non PC sigh from TM. | ||

| It was Woodies Open Mike Night and the pub was crowded with those seeking their five minutes of local fame. We really didn’t take much notice as the argument between PV and KOC was much more talented. Risked disappointment by saving the Naked Ladies until last but were rewarded with the best beer of the night. | ||
