This Jacobean timber framed pub was originally called The Pelican. There were few punters about and the staff were whiling away the time playing with their mobile phones. The radio was on full blast and very intrusive. The beer was poorer than remembered. As we were leaving the barman asked if the pub had passed the beer test - we lied.

This Tardis of a pub dates from 1666. We usually walk straight past but for once were tempted. Wish we hadn't bothered as the beer was rubbish.

Previously The Dukes Head, the pub name was changed when the owners of The George in Petersfield took on the lease. Although tied to Punch, Jason and Suzie try to get some unusual beers in. The Jennings was slow to clear - the reason became obvious when you picked up the glass - the haze was due to the very cold temperature. We did mention this to Suzie. Once warmed up, the beer was very nice.

Although Shaun wanted to take over the pub on his mother's death, Jill had not made provision for him to do so. As there are three brothers inheriting, the lease is going to be sold.

The dregs of the beer festival were still available so FN and KOC did make it in the end. The GU34 Crew turned up about 10.15 pm after their minibus tour. Phil seemed in a good mood - the festival must have been a success.

The complete antithesis of The White Lion in Aldershot - in the quality of beer served at least. The only slight complaint might be the fresh barrel of Stairway was a bit green. The rest of the beers were top notch.
