With the weather on the rainy side of dismal, MV did not fancy a troll up
the North Downs, so PV headed to the station to meet up with Mengo for the
11.38 to Godalming via Guildford – just like old times. The pub was busy
but there was a table available in the beer tent where we met up with Jem,
Satan and Les (from Alton). As a change from the full four season weather
which normally accompanies our Easter visit we only experienced three
seasons this year.

The beer selection was from the ‘West Side’, which presumably meant from
the west of the country and if so why were Yorkshire beers represented?
Whatever, the selection was very tempting and we soon got into sampling.
The big draw was meant to be Thornbridge Jaipur IPA – but this had gone in
4 hours on the Friday.

Andy was in the kitchen but his latest Godalming Beerworks offering was
available – still free as the brewery remains unlicensed. On a break Andy
sort feedback on the beer and was perhaps not pleased with the comment that
it was ‘a bit thin’ for a porter. But the taste was there.

A good little session which some continued at the GG on the return to
Aldershot.
