A site for real ale lovers (and other drinkers) to share experiences.
Olympia, W148UX
All was as previous visits, apart from the absence of KOC who was enjoying
the Amazon reunion weekend on a canal barge in Godalming.
Seating was again obtained in the stage area and Mengo settled into
sampling – PV & ROC heading for Germany; TM & JA trying what they
fancied; RN enjoying a few Continental choices and PC off wandering the
halls and stalls.
There were still a few American bottled beers available and PV & ROC
broke with tradition and tried the (very expensive) Alameda Black Bear XX
Stout – an enjoyable creamy British style stout from Portland, Oregon.
Perhaps it was indicative of declining popularity of the GBBF that there
were still some American beers left on the Saturday – after all there
seemed to be plenty of choice left on the other bars as well.
It was as usual enjoyable to reacquaint ourselves with the German beers but
PV was a little disappointed that Olaf does not expand his brewery
selection to take in few more unusual breweries.
