Old Odiham Road GU23 2LX
With the change of opening times we decided to catch the 12:50 from Aldershot. After the normal confusion on who is getting the train tickets we moved to the platform.
First stop Farnham and yes TM stood up picked up his bag and was ready to get off! When asked where he was going with that bag full of food he sat back down. Next was paying RN for the beer festival tickets.
Alton soon hove into view and we all got excited, If only there was a Flying Scotsman waiting. A steam train and a crowd of people but not the tick we required in our train spotting book.
Windy walk up to the college via the back route and up the stairs. No problems with the tickets. A tick on a list, onto buying some beer tokens and picking up a program with the beer list.
The beer festival was not that busy but full of the same old culprits. It made it a pleasant chatty day. Seems there is no one who wants to run the Woking Beer festival this year. The band was good nearly had them dancing. We met Reg. as there were plenty he had not tasted the little half pint bottles had to be filled.
______________
Yes and I should have had the first one on the list Ascot, How to dress for the apocalypse, 5.5, Black IPA, coffee, chocolate, Fruit. I did not read the notes?
The magic hour came and off to the Railway I did head and a few others joined. PC’s usual chat up line. “From the sound of your voice are you from Czechoslovakia” and the normal reply “No I am from Camberley”.
Three nice fff’s and off we went still no Flying Scotsman only a selection of tasty treats from PC and downmarket fare from TM (LIDLs specials).
KO and TM had keys to win in the club and RO did not fancy the GG’s finest so we all parted.
