| Refurbished and renamed, the old Prince Alfred has lost its public bar to a restaurant but has at least retained one bar where drinkers are welcome. The bar was busy with a large party enjoying post meal drinks. Three beers were available with both the Wells Bombardier and Ringwood Best in fine form. Unfortunately the Breakspear Bitter was vinegar and should not have been served. | ||

| The conversion of the adjoining shops into the pub's restaurant has now been completed. With all the main dish 'specials' at a very reasonable 6.95 and the room simply decorated and furnished it looked worth a visit for a meal. However, this visit was just for the beer and we were pleased to find all the beers tried were in good condition. Still, no matter how well kept and served, if you don't like the Farnham Brewery taste, then you are not going to fully enjoy your visit. | ||

| The restaurant area has benefited from redecoration. Five beers available and all priced at a very reasonable £2.50 a pint, including the Ringwood Old Thumper. The two beers tried, Hogs Back HOP and Marston’s Pedigree were very acceptable. J-P is trying everything to encourage custom including opening early for breakfast; a really full English at £6.25. Or perhaps Monday Pie Night with two for £10.00 would be more to your liking- it would be mine! | ||

| After a major refurbishment, this old West End boozer has reintroduced cask ale. Only one beer on at the time of our visit but two generally available. The surroundings proved very comfortable and the Wells Bombardier enjoyable. Let’s hope the real lasts in this lager desert! | ||
