PV and TM, by catching the train, arrived with plenty of time, not only to get a message to SH but also call in at Farnham Pottery for a bit of industrial and lavatorial archeology. Very interesting it was too.

Comment | | Quite a few punters were enjoying the laid back atmosphere of this sympathetically renovated pub. The barmaid was attributed but flat, rather like the guest beer; Holt Humdinger. The talk was about the mound at Waterloo.

Comment | | The hole in the wall has now been achieved and the public and lounge bars finally linked. Mind you one large one found the hole rather tight. Like last year, on arrival we were informed all the real ale beers had just ‘gone’ but would be back on in ten minutes. This was then qualified in that some Gold Muddler might still be left. Two opted for this while the remainder were prepared to wait for the Alton’s. The wait was in vain – the beer was cloudy when dispensed and consequently rejected.

Comment | | The pub was very busy with the latest crop of students. Over the many years all of us have been coming to this pub nothing much seems to change. Except the beers that is – and, O joy, this time they had Dark Star Original. It was truly lovely. SH called it an evening here.
