A lovely sunny day for the ‘final’ summer beer festival and the bikers were out in force at the front of the pub. PV was in such a hurry to get tasting he missed his fellow Mengo members already settled in the back bar but did come across ROC on the way back from the Gents.
We were all soon gathered together and started on the well chosen beer list. Although not all the beers featured were available this session, there was still a good selection to try, including this years CAMRA Supreme Champion Beer of Britain, Rudgate Ruby Mild, which was well received. Much more so than the Cairngorm Black Gold inadvertently tried by the Famous Four (but fortunately before the Fat Ones had got round to it).
The bus party left along with ROC after six. PV stayed on for four more, he just had to try a beer called Ginger Tosser but his bad knee forestalled trying the Havant Stopped Dancing.
Returning to The Garden Gate, PV was pleased to see Cally had on the rare Greene King XX Mild (got in especially for a party), which left PC to try the Bonkers Conkers.
