A bright if slightly chilly day brought the drinkers out for The White Hart’s Spring Beer Festival. As well as the locals, Mengo and the Surrey/Hants Borders CAMRA crew, a few had travelled from further a field. Jem, Satan and the burly man were up from Bordon and brought a fourth from Fife with them.
All were greeted with a list of around 30 beers of which, around a couple of dozen were available on the Saturday lunchtime. Perhaps the best received was the Humpty Dumpty Ale from Norfolk, which PC tried at least three times to make sure he really liked it, and, of course, the Dark Star American Pale Ale did not disappoint. The surprise of the session was ROC trying a black beer, but then it was RCH Old Slug Porter. The worst beer supped was undoubtedly Bank Top Flat Cap with its distinctive smell and taste of the farmyard. It would have helped if ROC had reminded PV he did not like it before purchase.
After a short, but perfectly formed session, it was back to the GG in the KOC mobile, where MG, seen earlier heading off to Winchester, eventually joined the party.
