Lion Brewery - Ash - SU 904 511

The Ringwood Best was unavailable which just left the Fuller’s London
Pride; it was not received too enthusiastically. The rather nice
barmaid’s rather sullen friend was the only occupant of the pool
table bar. It did not sound as though there were many in the other
bar either.

Brewer Beer % Price Mark Comment
Fuller’s London Pride 4.1 £2.90 2.5 Just above average

Dover Arms - Ash - SU 901 511

The second visit in as many weeks; we must be trying to accumulate
frequent traveler points for some reason. Although tied to Punch
Taverns there are allowed one guest ale pump, which this week was
Ascot Ales Wheatsheaf. Very nice it was too.

Brewer Beer % Price Mark Comment
Ascot Ales Wheatsheaf 4.9 £2.85 3.5 Had it been out in the fields?

Bricklayers - Ash - SU 891 504

The garden remained a tented village after the landlady’s wedding
reception the previous weekend. The public bar was like Benidorm, but
with less sand. From the looks we got from the lounge bar customers
they must have thought there was a drugs bust going down. The Courage
Best wasn’t bad once we had persuaded the barmaid we were only
cyclists. Perhaps we will remove our florescent jackets before we go
in mob handed again.

Brewer Beer % Price Mark Comment
Courage Best 4.0 £2.90 3

Greyhound - Ash - SU 888 502

Inside it was quiz night or you could join the café society outside
gazing over the…..traffic on the roundabout. Not quite the Cote
d’Azur. Still, the Stonehenge Pigswill was in fine form.

Brewer Beer % Price Mark Comment
Stonehenge Pigswill 4.0 £2.55 4 Very good

White Lion - Aldershot - SU 878 499

The barman seemed a trifle churlish, but nobody cared as the beer was
anything but. The stunning pint of Dark Star Over the Moon was an
excellent way to finish any evening’s drinking.

Brewer Beer % Price Mark Comment
Triple fff Pressed Rat 3.8 £2.40 4 Extremely nice
Triple fff Alton’s Pride 3.8 £2.40 3 Not quite Alton standard
Triple fff Moondance 4.2 £2.60 4 Very good
Triple fff Stairway 4.6 £2.70 3 Only good
Dark Star Over the Moon 3.8 £2.60 4.5 Even better than Pressed
