Royal Staff - Aldershot - SU 873 505

Clive and Popsy, who are new to the pub trade, took over The Staff
six weeks ago. They are pleased with the start made and have been
supported by a regular bunch of customers, some returning to the pub
since the departure of the previous long incumbent landlord, John.
Clive took a crash course in cellarmanship and is getting used to
looking after the manual stilage. He is always receptive to any
advice offered which will help him maintain a high standard of
dispense. He seems to have mastered the most important aspect as the
two beers tried, Butcombe Traditional Bitter and London Pride, were
both in good condition and thoroughly enjoyable.

Brewer Beer % Price Mark Comment
Fuller’s London Pride 4.1 £3.00 3.5 Better than last one tried here
Fuller’s ESB 5.5 £3.30 Not tried
Butcombe Traditional Bitter 4.0 £3.00 3.5

Albion - Aldershot - SU 872 503

The pub was very busy this Wednesday night with the ladies playing
darts and the men watching Arsenal struggle against Kiev in the
Champions League on one of the three TV’s doted about the pub. The
barmaid was all you could want and even went so far as to offer ROC
to park his bike around the back. We must admit it was a new one to
us as well. Unfortunately the London, the only real available, did
not measure up to the example from the Staff.

Brewer Beer % Price Mark Comment
Fuller’s London Pride 4.1 £2.80 2.5 Average

Crimea - Aldershot - SU 869 507

Until we arrived, there were only two customers in the pub who were
listening to the Champions League on the radio. Still it made for
acomfortable visit for us and allowed the barman time to catch up
with his old mate KOC. However, this is not the normal state of
affairs; just try having a quiet drink in here when Aldershot are
playing at home! Two beers available, Wychwood Hobgoblin and Wadworth
6X, and both were in good condition.

Brewer Beer % Price Mark Comment
Wychwood Hobgoblin 4.5 £3.00 3
Wadworth 6X 4.3 £2.90 3

Garden Gate - Aldershot - SU 865 500

Cally and her chest have settled in well. The Bonkers Conkers came as
a very pleasant surprise. Greene King can actually brew a decent beer!

Brewer Beer % Price Mark Comment
Greene King IPA 3.7 £2.70 3.5 As good as usual
Greene King Bonkers Conkers 4.1 £2.90 3.5 A true surprise to us all
Greene King Abbot 5.0 £2.80 3 Not sparkling said Frank
