White Lion - Aldershot - SU 878 499

This pub has a nice quiet atmosphere conducive for chatting and there
were quiet a few regulars lined up along the bar doing so. Amongst
them was Col, an old friend of KOC’s, and they quickly began
reminiscing about old times and people they knew. Joanne had recently
visited and was fondly remembered by Col; apparently they went right
up The Rhine together. Which was a new one on us. KOC was keen to
tell the landlord about a scooter model to be found in a local shop
but did not endear himself by expressing it was ‘better than the ones
on display’. Still it was not taken to heart and we were allowed to
continue to sample the excellent Triple fff beers.

Brewer Beer % Price Mark Comment
Triple fff Pressed Rat 3.8 £2.40 3.5
Triple fff Alton’s Pride 3.8 £2.40 3.5 Score a bit down on last time
Triple fff Moondance 4.2 £2.60 3.5
Triple fff Stairway 4.6 £2.70 3.5

Red Lion - Aldershot - SU 874 500

Shaun and Jeanette took over ‘The Red’ in December 2006 and are still
enjoying running the pub even in these trying times for the trade.
Tied to Enterprise their regulars are generally London Pride,
Bombardier and TEA but they also like to try at least one from the
SIBA list supplied. This time we were lucky and two ‘guests’ were on,
Sharps Doom Bar and IPA. Both were so good we did not get round to
trying either the London Pride or TEA. Whist chatting to Jean about
the beer it was mentioned they were going to stop selling the Courage
(Keg) Mild and for old times sake FN decided to try a Mann’s Brown
with it. We will wear our cloth caps next week. We were enjoying the
Sharps beers and Jean’s reminiscences of her childhood in The
Globetrotter so much we failed to visit ‘The Golden’ in our quest for
three lions in our report. Neither did we get home to the GG.

Brewer Beer % Price Mark Comment
Sharps Doom Bar 4.0 £2.95 3.5 Very nice
Sharps IPA 4.2 £2.95 3.5 Lovely, almost a four
Fuller’s London Pride 4.1 £2.95 Not tried
Hogs Back TEA 4.2 £2.95 Not tried
