28th June 2006

Sampled by:

ROC, MG, TM, KOC, PV and VP

We made our separate ways to The Cedars – ROC and PV cycled from
Aldershot whilst MG, TM and KOC trained to Bentley before the
leisurely ride to Binstead. VP, of course, came by car.

Cedars - Binstead - SU772401

A quiet evening in Binstead, made all the quieter by the absence of
the landlord, Mick, who no longer works evenings. However the beers
still good and provided a nice start to the evenings ride.

Brewer Beer % Price Mark Comment
Breakspears Bitter 3.4 £2.80 3.5 Getting better
Courage Best 4.0 £2.30 Not tried
Marstons Pedigree 4.5 £2.70 3 Reasonably good
Adnams Broadside 4.7 £2.80 3 Good

Queens Head - Holybourne, Alton - SU729405

Comment

A loud night in Holybourne, made all the noisier by the jukebox at
full volume. The guest beer was sold out so we settled for a good
sample of Greene King IPA. The lounge bar was much quieter.

Brewer Beer % Price Mark Comment
Greene King IPA 3.7 £2.40 3.5 Good example
Greene King Abbot 4.8 £2.50 Not tried

Railway Arms - Alton - SU722398

Comment

An excellent refuge to escape from the day’s trials and tribulations.
All the beers tried were in top form as befitting one of the
contenders for Surrey/Hants Borders Hampshire Pub of the Year. Will
be back soon for some more Triple fff.
