Date: 16 June 2010 Never all there at the same time

Sampled by:

PV, KOC, TM, and ROC, with RN and MG joining in latter

With both ROC (Glasgow) and PV (hospital visiting) missing the previous few weeks, this time it was FN (holiday) who failed to arrive. It would seem as if summer 2010 will be year when we will never all be there at the same time. TM said a few words about his and PC’s summer visit to Belgium – it was hot. Oh, and they found a drinkable Gueuze, which is, quite frankly, unbelievable.

The pub was very noisy even without the sound of the vuvuzuela (fortunately the TV sound of the World Cup was turned off). Going by the blossoming numbers of pump clips on display around the bar Mark had embraced the free house ethos. Today’s choices were from Burton Bridge and Ossett with the B&T settling in for the weekend. Mark was well pleased with the outcome of his first beer festival back in April – only six gallons were left out of the twelve firkins, and these were used up in the pub during the following few days. So pleased in fact another beer festival is being planned for the Halloween weekend.

Well talk about a big one – the TV that is. Projector on to about a ten foot screen. All you need to enjoy the World Cup pub experience apart from a really good beer. It is probably us, but there is something about the Farnham Brewery taste we don’t like. That and, of course, the variable nature of the beer. Fortunately, this evening the Bishop was in good nick. RN joined us here.

The intention was to call in to The Royal Arms but it was closed by the time we arrived around 10.00.

Using KOC’s method of pub description, it was reasonably busy. Not much else to say except the TV was very loud and was showing absolute bollocks. And the new West End resident joined us here for one.

Then the two West End Boys went home and the rest headed for the Garden Gate.
